Introduction to Seventeen Upgraded Methods and Concepts

The home page mentions that Mighty Plan is based on the power of seventeen upgrades, or seventeen superheroes. The first two you've met already, The $500 billion a year idea (500B) and The Sakai. Here are the other fifteen:

Get Ongoing Personal Support

Superprograms
              The Ladder of Empowerment
              Supercharity
              The Surgeon's Attitude
              The Two Tables Model
              The Golden Rule 2.0
              Want Management
              Proof Through the Night
Get a Back-up Form of Ongoing Personal Support
The Ulysses Method for Creating Synthetic Willpower

The “Make a Friend, Be a Friend, Lift a Friend Higher” Process

Preferential Helping

Trust Arithmetic
              The Contest of Superprograms

If you explore these, you will realize that a few of these upgrades are not very original or even impressive. For example the idea of having ongoing personal support is not original. Many people have ongoing support through the different support groups they belong to, or through some community their in. But for most people, ongoing support for growth and active change is an upgrade over what they are using, for example, lectures or sermons that only briefly inspire; classes that end; or self-help books that rarely provide ongoing inspiration.

Two other methods are powerful and new to most people, but they are not original. They are the Ulysses Method for Creating Synthetics Willpower (known perhaps 2,500 years ago or earlier) and the "Make a Friend, Be a Friend, Lift a Friend Higher Method." Yet the rest are original. More importantly, together they are phenomenally powerful.

If I had to pick a leader for these superheroes, I would say this:  Superprograms is the central upgrade. All the other upgrades are either part of Superprograms, or they enhance its power. But the leader of this team is in fact, the Surgeon's Attitude, because in me the Surgeon's Attitude came first. I had it in its raw form by the time I was ten years old. Since it gave birth to the other upgrades, I think of it as the father of all the others, at least the ones I created. Moreover, I am confident that if other creative people who are not happy with the world take on the Surgeon's Attitude, the Surgeon's Attitude will give birth to many other superheroes.

There are two other sets of methods that could be considered superheroes, but I don't consider them upgrades. One was introduced as "Doubt-Crusher."  Doubt-Crusher was just a name for a collection of counter-arguments to many doubts and false hopes that many people have about the future of the world. Some of these new perspectives are indeed upgrades over how people look at the world, but for the sake of simplicity, I will not consider them superheroes. In fact, once a doubt is conquered you no longer need to think about it anymore (or use "Doubt-Crusher" anymore.)  But those who use Mighty Plan will be continuously relying on the 17 upgrades, sometimes consciously and sometimes unconsciously. I say unconsciously, since, for example, ongoing support is automatically built into all superprograms.

The other set of methods are discussed in the section about Transformation. I don't consider most forms of transformation formally part of Mighty Plan for three reasons. First, all the other methods are almost guaranteed to get results; they are as straightforward as following a cookbook recipe. But transformation is usually not totally under human control. Second, transformation comes close to or enters the spiritual domain, and discussions in these areas often provoke strong negative reactions. Thirds, transformation is like a wild card. To make Mighty Plan formally dependent on transformation would almost be like saying, we can transform the world, if we can transform all the people in it. Well, of course, but I can't prove that I can transform the people in it. (Although I do argue that from one point of view, superprograms can lead to an educational transformation.)

Again, the best advice that I can leave you with as you begin to learn about these upgrades is to realize that each can increase your ability to transform your own life, and the lives of others, and...through the power of a trust in arithmetic...most of the world.

For the sake of flow, this page and the 15 upgrades are linked together, so you can read them in the same order as the list at the top of this page.
