Pretending
to be the plan
that dramatically reduces human suffering and
stabilizes Earth's life-support systems
by the year 2100!
Herein lies
the drama of Mighty Plan: Most organizations and even many
individuals have plans. Organizations have annual plans, five-year plans,
and annual budgets. Individuals have a vision of what they want their
lives to be like, even if it's just "find someone to love and have a
family together." But as we begin this century, there is no
widely-publicized coordinated plan for managing the current and growing
problems facing humanity. In other words, no one has said something like
this:
“We have
studied the problems predicted by many scientific studies, and here’s
the plan to prevent or diminish these problems. Here’s how we will do
it; and here’s what you can do to take part. These are the reasons for
doing it, and here are the benefits that you will get. Finally, this is
the date
that we expect the goal to be reached, on Earth.”
The UN
has no plan like this. No group of universities have created such
a plan. No G-8 or other group of nations have offered a plan. No
group of Fortune 500 corporations have created a plan. No major
think tank or nonprofit organization has presented such a plan.
Some religious bodies have offered "stewardship
guidelines" for caring for humanity and the earth, but these
are merely recommended plans, that come with few incentives for
participation (and besides they are only for their members.)
Therefore, up till now, no one has a presented a
widely-publicized, widely-accepted plan for how individuals can
deal with the expected destructive environmental, social, economic
and political problems brought on by increasing population and
other trends.
It's like being on a large ocean liner and finding out that no one
knows if there's going to be enough fuel to get to dry land.
And no one knows if there will be enough food or medicine for the
journey either. In fact, on this ocean liner, already one-sixth of
the passengers are traveling in misery. And there are already many
areas in the boat that are showing signs of major damage and loss
of stability.
The drama is this: In this midst of this high-anxiety situation,
one passenger has announced, "I think that I have a
plan."
Who: Group
Genie, a think tank and division of World Peace One, a tax-exempt
501c3 nonprofit, based in the USA.
What: Mighty Plan is a plan that begins with individuals, and whose
purpose is to dramatically reduce human suffering and death, and also
stabilize Earth's life-support systems.
Where: Since the plan starts from the individual level, you can
begin it anywhere on Earth, if you can first arrange the ongoing support
of one person for you, or a small group.
When: Beginning in October, 2007.
Why: There is no widely-accepted, viable plan for preventing
widespread economic, political and environmental catastrophes in this
century. The plans we know of, are inadequate or incomplete. (See
our article on Plan B 2.0
on the Group Genie website.)
The genies of Group Genie have various motivations for working to design
a plan. They include: a sense of moral obligation, compassion,
increasing our own odds of survival, and showing off our creative
abilities.
